    Celebrate May Day in the DPRK and join the festivities with the locals in Taesongsan Park, experience unique Mass Dance, and take a Trolley bus ride along streets of Pyongyang. There might be workers’ demonstration, and various street parties. You will visit Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and Kaesong, pass Nampo, and explore beautiful but rarely visited Haeju! You will see two of the five celebrated mountains of Korea - Mt.Myohyang and Mt.Kuwol
    We will take domestic flight to Chongjin - the city of iron, 3rd biggest city in the DPRK, and then drive bus to the very unique place in the DPRK - Rason Special Economic Zone. After having the tour in Rason we will cross DPRK/Russia border by train via Tumangang/Khasan check-point. The border crossing over Korean−Russian Friendship Bridge is an amazing experience - you will see how Russians keep the railway link to the Korea literally locked. From this bridge we can clearly see the unique Tri border area. We change the train in Russian city Ussuriysk and continue to Vladivostok, the capital of the Russian Far East. On May 9 in Vladivostok we will take part in big festivities and The Victory Day Military Parade on the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of Great Patriotic War (WWII) - one of the biggest National holidays in Russia.
    On this tour you will have an optional opportunity to take the PYONGYANG AIR CITY TOUR - a 40 minute trip in the skies aboard an Air Koryo Mi-17 helicopter. You will have an unrivalled bird's-eye view of Pyongyang from the sky and a lot of great photo opportunities!

    Apr 27 (Thu): Pyongyang Kaesong

    Arrival in Pyongyang

    • Depart from Beijing by Air Koryo flight JS 252Y Beijing-Pyongyang at 14.05 from TERMINAL 2, Beijing Capital Airport . Arrive in Pyongyang at 16.40 local time
    • Drive from Pyongyang to Kaesong - capital of Korea up to the 15th century. Kaesong is the only city in Korea which has preserved its original historical make up as it hasn't been destroyed during the Korean war. It is a home for 12 historic sites from the UNESCO World Heritage List. Kaesong is considered to be home of Koryo insam (ginseng) and so be prepared to buy some of the best insam in the Far East
    • Check in Minsok Folk Hotel ** - a cosy hotel located in the old center of Kaesong. It consists of 20 traditional Korean houses all off a courtyard, and featuring a charming stream running through it. It’s fascinating and far more atmospheric than anywhere else you’ll stay in the country

    Apr 28 (Fri): Kaesong Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) Pyongyang

    • Breakfast in the hotel
    • Walk through one of the Kaesong Traditional Folk Streets
    • Janamsan Park - located on a hill overlooking the city it is a great place to enjoy the beautiful panorama of the old Kaesong
    • Sonjuk Bridge - a small stone bridge dating back to 1216, UNESCO World Heritage Site
    • Drive to Tomb of King Kongmin - UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is the original mausoleum of the 31st king of the Koryo Dynasty - King Kongmin and his Queen dated back to 14th century
    • Move to Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) - a strip of land running across the Korean Peninsula that serves as a buffer zone between North and South Korea, it is one of the most militarized area on our planet
    • Panmunjom - a village where in 1953 Armistice Talks were held between the DPR Korea and the United Nation Command. Visit the blue tent-like building located exactly on the borderline between Koreas. You can walk around the conference room and hop from South to North Korea while you are in this building. This is one of the few places where you can take pictures of the DPRK military
    • On the way back to Pyongyang have lunch at Tongil restaurant - "Tongil" means "Reunification" in Korean, it is one of the most famous restaurants in Kaesong where you can experience royal meal with multiple side-dishes. For anyone wanting to supplement their lunch, there will be an opportunity to sample Korea’s famous ginseng chicken soup (at extra charge)
    • Monument to the Three Charters for National Reunification - the monument representing desire of Korean people for reunification. It is shaped in form of two Korean women holding Korean peninsula over the Thongil highway from Pyongyang to DMZ
    • Visit one of the finest museums of the DPRK Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum - unveiled in 2013 by the leader Kim Jong Un after massive renovation this museum explains the origins of the Korean War (1950-53) between South and North. Here you will see the only US ship captured by a foreign country - the spy ship USS Pueblo, as well as American weapons and shot down planes. The museum features amazing displays and excellent dioramas

    • Pyongyang microbrewery and bar - try several types of locally brewed beer and wide variety of international cuisine (at your own expense)

    Apr 29 (Sat): Pyongyang Mt.Myohyang Pyongyang

    • Breakfast in the hotel
    • Drive (about 3h) to Mt.Myohyang - the Mountain of Mysterious Fragrance, one of the five celebrated mountains of Korea. It is a sacred site as, according to legend, it was the home of King Tangun, forefather of the Korean people. In 2009 UNESCO designated Mount Myohyang a world biosphere reserve
    • Visit grandiose International Friendship Exhibition - the world's biggest treasure-house. On exhibit are gifts received by DPRK's leaders over the years. One building stores the presents given to President Kim Il Sung, while a smaller one holds those given to Leader Kim Jong Il
    • After impressive exhibition discover Pohyon temple - one of the five famous Buddhist temples of Korea, it was built nearly 1,000 years ago
    • Enjoy your lunch near the Friendship Exhibition in Hyangsan - town bordered by the Chongchun river on the one side, and the Myohyang stream flows along the other
    • Drive back to Pyongyang and enroute stop by Pyongyang Ostrich Farm
    • Dinner in one of Pyongyang’s restaurants
    • Spend rest of your evening in Taedonggang Diplomatic club - the great place to socialize with expats, enjoy local and foreign drinks

    • Experience incredible Kumsusan Palace of Sun - Mausoleum of president Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il. To visit the Mausoleum tourists should follow a strict dress code: no shorts, T-shirts and sandals, no blue jeans and mini-skirts
    • Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery - a cemetery and memorial to the North Korean soldiers fighting for freedom and independence against Japanese rule
    • Pyongyang Folklore Park - located at the foot of Mt. Taesong it hosts replicas of the most famous Korean buildings and natural sights: ancient king palaces, Koguryo Tombs, Juche Tower, Ryugyong Hotel, Arch of Triumph, Grand People’s Study House, West Sea Barrage, Paektusan, Diamond Mountains, and many others

    • Take ride in Pyongyang Metro - one of the deepest subways in the world, it was designed to serve as a bomb shelter in case of war. The stations' interiors are stunning with superb lighting and mosaics. This is a great chance to interact with local people and explore several subway stations
    • Arch of Triumph - built in 1982 to commemorate President Kim Il Sung’s role in resisting Japanese rule, it is the second tallest triumphal arch in the world. Each of its 25,500 blocks of finely-dressed white granite represents a day of his life up to that point
    • Juche Tower - at 150m it is the highest stone monument in the world. Take elevator to the top of the tower to enjoy the magnificent view of Pyongyang (optional, 5 Euro p/p)
    • Kim Il Sung Square - Pyongyang’s central square where Korea’s massive military parades normally take place. Opened in August Juche 43 (1954) it is the 30th largest square in the world
    • Walk to Pyongyang Foreign Language Book Shop - the popular shop where you can buy propaganda posters, books and other souvenirs
    • Visit Monument to Workers' Party of Korea - opened in Juche 84 (1995) the monument depicts the hammer, sickle and brush seized by a worker, a farmer and an intellectual. The round belt means the single-hearted unity of the leader, Party and people
    • Kwangbok Supermarket - located at one of the biggest city's street it is a popular mall where visitors can exchange money into local Won in order to shop

    • Mansudae Grand Monument - the huge bronze statues of the leaders standing in the center of the composition with two monuments titled "Anti-Japanese Revolutionary Struggle" and "Socialist Construction" on both sides. It was renovated in April 2012 following the passing away of the leader Kim Jong Il and a new statue of Kim Jong Il was added next to Kim Il Sung's
    • Behind the Grand Mansudae Monuments don’t miss Chollima Monument - named after a mythical winged horse (Chollima in Korean literally means "thousand-mile horse"). In the period of reconstruction following the Korean War Cholima was the symbol inspiring workers to rebuild their nation at ‘Chollima Speed’
    • Enjoy May Day Celebration at Taesongsan Park - "taesong" in Korean means "great fort", it is an amusement park located about 12 kilometers from Pyongyang. You will have a great chance to mingle with Koreans here. Every year May Day festivities are held in this park - singing and dancing performances, folk games and many more - it is going to be fun!

    • NEW! Take unique Trolley bus ride - see the streets of the capital from the iconic worker's transport which is still used only in some other former socialist states! It is a classic vehicle from 1950s which is still in service on the streets of Pyongyang. The route starts at Pyongyang Railway Station and ends at Arch of Triumph with stop at Chollima Monument

    • Experience unique Mass Dance - one of the most well known images of North Korea: students of local universities get on the main city's squares and dance dressed in traditional Korean suit

    • Stop by Future Science and Technology Complex - opened in 2016 it is a science center and library built in a shape of atom
    • Visit Korea Fine Art Gallery - houses a great number of precious ancient works, and works created during the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle
    • Head to Taedong Park - a great place a few minutes away from Kim Il Sung Square to enjoy a peceful park and a walk along the Taedong river. Walk along the Taedong river to Taedong Gate - built in the mid-6th century, it is the east gate of the inner castle of the Walled City of Pyongyang (Pyongyang Castle, Koguryo dynasty) situated on the bank of River Taedong. Inspect Pyongyang Bell - national treasure, it was rung to announce invasions, natural disasters, New Year's Day and other major events. The current bell was cast in 1726 during the Ri dynasty to replace an earlier one that was destroyed by fire in 1714. Stop by Ryonggwang Pavillion - one of the 8 scenic wonders of western part of Korea
    • Lunch on the pleasure boat on Taedong river
    • Visit Grand People’s Study House - located at the Kim Il Sung Square it is one of the most famous buildings in Pyongyang. It was built in a traditional Korean style over a period of 21 months and opened in April of 1982 to honor Kim Il Sung’s 70th birthday
    • Visit Munsu Waterpark - the first park of this kind in Pyongyang. It features indoor and outdoor pools, amazing waterslides, coffee shop, a beer bar, table tennis, billiards massage and a beauty salon. A great place to chat with local people. Entrance 3 Euro, those who would like to swim be ready to pay 10 Euro
    • Visit Pyongyang Schoolchildren’s Palace - one of 2 major centers of extra curriculum education built for the Korean Communist Youth of Pyongyang. There may be a chance to see a performance prepared by local children

    • Drive to Sariwon - the southern gateway to Pyongyang. With population well above 300,000 Sariwon is one the most densely populated cities of the DPRK and it is famous for its Maccoli - Korean traditional rice wine
    • Explore Sariwon Folk Customs Street - great place to see Korean traditions and customs
    • Stop by Mt.Jongbang - 481m high mountain near Sariwon famous for its many spots to enjoy beautiful landscapes and historical fort dated back to Koryo Dynasty
    • Visit Songbul Temple - one of the famous temples in Korea. It was first built in 898 and later rebuilt in Koryo dynasty
    • Lunch
    • Transfer to Sinchon - located about 30 km from Sariwon, it is a place of Sinchon civilian Massacre during the Korean War
    • Visit horrifying Sinchon Massacre Museum - which tells the story of an appalling atrocity committed by the US forces during the Korean War. The museum charts the massacre of over 35,300 civilians - men, women, children and babies
    • Drive to Sokdam Ravine - 30 minute drive west out of Haeju, it is a great hiking place to see nine valleys littered with pavilions, tombs and the 16th-centruy Sohyon Confucian Academy
    • Stop by Sohyon Confucian Academy - it is very beautiful 16th-century school where famous confucian scholar Ri Yi taught students. Next door is a famous zelkova tree planted in 1100
    • Arrival in Haeju - DPRK’s only west coast port not to freeze in winter, it is called “city of rice and fish” due to its developed agriculture and fishery. During the Korean War Haeju hasn't been damaged much and thus it preservers many original historical sites and dinner

    May 4 (Thu): Haeju Mt.Kuwol Nampo Pyongyang

    • Explore Haeju Main Square - the place to pay respect to the leaders monument and see Revolutionary Museum
    • Stop by Puyong Temple Pavilion - located in the center of the city, it was built on stilts over a pond of lilies, the largest in the DPRK, it dates from 1500. Pay special attention to Kyongju Observatory - located next to Puyong Temple Pavilion it is one of the oldest world observatories, it was opened in 7 century
    • Visit Haeju Folk Street - the place where you can see Korean traditional customs
    • Drive to Kyenam Stock Farm - powered by the methane produced by its livestock, it is a place to see pig breeding
    • Lunch
    • Enjoy light hiking in Mt.Suyang - it is a series of steep hills famous for the five-story pagoda, the stone ice house and Koryo Sami Pavilion dated back to Koryo period. You will have a chance to see famous Suyang Falls - located at the foot of Mt.Suyang, it is a good observation spot to see spectacular landscape
    • Drive to Mt.Kuwol - one of the 5 celebrated mountains, it is called "September mountain" in Korean because of its beauty in autumn
    • If possible visit Woljong Temple - built on Asa Peak in around 9 century, it is a place to explore several ancient pavilions, halls and smaller temples. Enjoy beautiful landscapes and waterfalls
    • Take a very unique road over West Sea Barrage - built from 1981 to 1986 this 8 km barrage is a source of pride in the DPRK. If you are lucky you will see how Barrage gets closed for the night
    • Drive to Pyongyang
    • Farewell Dinner
    • Golden Lane Bowling Center - the huge entertainment center, a good chance to mix with locals and watch some stellar displays of local bowling talent and relax after long sightseeing day. There is also a shooting range next door

    • Wake up early and enjoy breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to the Pyongyang airport

    • Arrive to Orang - a tiny town, home of Chongjin's airport
    • Transfer to Yombun Revolutionary site - located 4 km from Kyongsong, it is called "yonbunjin" after being the first place on the East Coast where a new way to get salt was discovered. It is a collection of memorial spots where President Kim Il Sung talked with the fishermen calling them to build a new country
    • Drive to Kyongsong - a small town on the coast famous for a series of resorts at which you will have a chance to stop by. It is also a well-known ceramic-producing center
    • Enjoy lunch
    • Visit Kyongsong Revolutionary Museum - a house used by the President Kim Il Sung's family during ani-Japanese struggle in 1940s. It is preserved to show their lifestyle at that time
    • Stop by Kyongsong town fort - National Treasure No. 118, perhaps the only intact city wall in the DPRK. It was built in a plain area during the Koryo dynasty in 1107
    • Move to Jipsam Revolutionary site - a historic place where three generals (Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Suk, and young Kim Jong Il) met during the Japanese occupation to talk with fishermen how to defeat the invaders
    • Drive to Chongjin - "city of iron", the DPRK’s third largest city, a large industrial hub on the North East coast. It is estimated to have a 24% share of the DPRK's foreign trade
    • Susongchon General Foodstuff Factory - recently opened to foreign visitors, this factory is located outside of the city at the source of natutal mineral water which is used in production of various breads and traditional spirits
    • Dinner
    • Seaman's Club - restaurant, bar, karaoke, gym and sauna at Chongjin city center. You can try some incredible Cold Noodles (Nae-Meng). It is actually one of the few places in the DPRK where foreigners and locals can mingle

    May 6 (Sat): Chongjin Rajin

    • Chongjin central square - the main city square featuring renovated in Sep 2014 monument to the leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il
    • Stop by North Hamgyong Province Revolutionary museum - a place where you will learn a great story about trees with revolutionary slogans carved into: when the forest caught fire in 1998 local people with their bare bodies protected the trees. According to the story 17 people died in the flames, but the trees were saved
    • Chongjin liberation tower - monuments to the Soviet soldiers fallen in the battles for Korea’s liberation from Japanese rule in Chongjin. The monument is located on the mountain which is the highest point of the whole area, and thus you will have a great view of the city and nearby Chongjin port. Pay a visit to nearby Korean People's Army Martyrs' Cemetery - the cemetery of revolutionaries who fought for the freedom and independence of the country
    • Enjoy view on Chongjin port - one of the country's main harbors
    • Lunch
    • Visit Chongjin Electronic Library - a place in possession of more than 300 computers connected to Pyongyang. Quite often here schoolchildren take a test exam coordinated from the capital
    • Visit Chongjin steelworks kindergarten - here you will see a musical and dance performance by the local children. You may prepare some candies, food or pens to give to children after the show
    • Drive up the coast to the internal border with Rason Special Economic Zone
    • Enter Rason - Free Economic Zone Rason and arrive in Rajin - the biggest city in Rason

    • Rajin city market - the only market in North Korea where tourists are allowed to visit and use local DPR Korean Won as well as other hard currencies to buy various local products
    • Rajin City Port - a place of active Chinese and Russian investments, a home for the DPRK passenger cruise ship as well as occasional Russian cruises
    • Walk in Rajin city center - where you will see statues of the leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il. The statues were unveiled in April 2015
    • Experience Kimilsungia and Kimjonglia Greenhouses - the place where the famous flowers named after leaders are grown along with Korean national flower - Magnolia
    • Lunch
    • Travel to Pipha Area - an island known for its stunning scenery, fishing, and boating. Sightseeing on boat (optional, 100RMB per person. If weather is favorable you will see seals - it is the only Seals Nature Reservation site in DPRK)
    • Visit local casino in Emperor Hotel & Casino - 5* hotel where wealthy Chinese come to gamble. It is owned by Hong Kong investors and it is one of the best hotels in the DPRK
    • Move back to Rajin and enjoy dinner in Rajin city center
    • Enjoy walking tour in Hae’an Rajin Beach Park - a recently renovated seaside/beach park, one of the most popular places in the city

    May 8 (Mon): Rajin Sonbong Tumangang Khasan Ussuriysk

    • Breakfast
    • Rajin Textile Factory - one of the biggest textile factories in Rason where revolutionary music is played in order to keep upbeat mood of the workers
    • Drive to Sonbong - second biggest city in Rason
    • Visit Sonbong Revolutionary Site - the place where the mother Kim Jong Suk with the 3 year old leader Kim Jong Il returned back to Korea after the end of World War II
    • Drive to Tuman river border area - the chance to observe China and Russia across Tuman river. From Sonbong the road initially goes along beautiful coast of the East Sea of Korea and then it turns North, and passes through a system of blue lakes, one of which - Manpo lake - has been identified by BirdLife International as an Important Bird Area because it supports populations of various birds such as swan geese, oriental storks, and cranes
    • Arrival in Tumangang - Korean town at the border with Russia
    • Visit Korean−Russian Friendship House - located in Tumangang, it is a museum dedicated to the history of Russia-Korea relations
    • Move to Sungjon pavillion - located on a hill dominating the area, it is a nice pavilion next to the Victory Monument to Admiral Li Sun Sin, inventor of the legendary turtle battleship. It is the great observation platform to enjoy view on neighboring Russia and China. Enjoy picnic and the great view on Tri border area - a unique place where 3 borders (China, DPRK and Russia) meet each other and Korean−Russian Friendship Bridge - a railway bridge, the only land connection between Russia and the DPRK. The DPRK/Russia border is only 17 km long and it is the shortest border Russia has with any of its neighboring countries
    • Transfer to Tumangang Railway Station . At 15.00 local time take train (sleeper class) to Russia
    • Be ready for one of the major highlights of the trip - crossing the DPRK/Russia border via the Korean−Russian Friendship Bridge from which the Tri border area is just 135m away
    • Arrival in Khasan - small Russian town at border with the DPRK. After immigration formalities you will have about 1h to shop for your dinner (there is no any restaurant carriage on the train)
    • At 18.30 take train (sleeper class) to Ussuriysk - train interchange junction. Change train to Vladivostok at midnight
    • If you think to visit Victory parade in Vladivostok next day it would be advisable to have a good rest on the train as you may need to wake up early in order to secure good observation spot in the parade

    May 9 (Tue): Ussuriysk Vladivostok

    • Arrival in Ussuriysk at 00:46 in the morning and change train (sleeper class) to Vladivostok departing at 01:20 in the morning. Vladivostok is the largest city in the Russian Far East. Established as a key naval and military base on the Pacific, Vladivostok became the eastern terminus of Trans-Siberian Railway. Until 1992, Vladivostok was closed for foreigners, being one of the top secret military zones. Today it is one of the most important regional centers in Russia and the largest port city in the Russian Far East
    • Arrival at the Vladivostok Railway Station at 03:17 in the morning,check in the hotel
    • The Victory Day Military Parade - to commemorate the capitulation of Nazi Germany in 1945, the Victory Day Parade will start at 10.00 in the morning. The parade will be held on the main city square which is 10 min walk from our hotel.     • We will start the city sightseeing tour at 10.00 in the morning: Vladivostok Railway Station and the monument marking the end of the Trans-Siberian Railway. The Railway Station is connected to the Sea Passenger and Cargo port from which you can enjoy beautiful view on the Golden Horn Bay. Visit Lenin Monument - popular meeting spot in front of Vladivostok Railway Station, pass by Yul Brynner's family house - the place where he was born in 1921
    • Drive to Eagle's Nest - the scenic point to enjoy the fabulous view on the Vladivostok city and the Golden Bridge over the Golden Horn Bay
    • Drive to the Russky Island - once a top-secret military base served as the naval shield for Vladivostok. Only in 1995, after losing much of its defensive significance it became open for civilian visitors. In 2012 the island was connected by a bridge with the rest of Vladivostok
    • On the way to the Russky Island you will pass Russky Island Bridge - the world's longest cable-stayed bridge, with a 1104 m long central span
    • Visit the Far East University campus - the biggest Russian university in the Far East, after the APEC summit in Vladivostok (in September 2012) it moved to Russky Island , from which you can have a stunning view on Golden Horn Bay and Russky Island Bridge
    • Have lunch at Novik Country Club - located in shore of the Novik Bay
    • Visit the Voroshilovskaya Battery - located on the territory of the former military base, it is just one of such batteries located on Russky Island, that served to protect Vladivostok against possible military invasions from Japan. Admire this outstanding structure erected over 80 years ago, its complex mechanisms, rational organization and efficient functioning
    • Return to Vladivostok, free time
